SPHPM visits Adult Retrieval Victoria

SPHPM organised a visit to Ambulance Victoria's Adult Retrieval Victoria (ARV) last week, where attendees were introduced to both the Adult Retrieval initiative and Air Ambulance Victoria.

Adult retrieval is a service which provides advanced planning, non-emergency, tailor made patient transportation from one hospital to another. ARV liaise closely with public and private hospital critical care units to facilitate access to critical care beds when required.

ARV assists with the transportation of patients who are in need of special care, and ensures that patients are given access to all the resources available to them while they are in hospital care. The service is beneficial because it oversees all possible care options for patients who need to be moved to a different hospital, and ensures that they receive the appropriate care.
