Dr Ken Harvey writes about homeopathy and the NHMRC

SPHPM's Adjunct Associate Professor, Dr Ken Harvey has written an article for ABC's The Drum relating to the NHMRC's recent finding that there were no health conditions for which there was reliable evidence that homeopathy was effective.

The NHMRC was asked to assist the Department of Health with a review of whether natural therapies should continue to receive an Australian Government Rebate on Private Health Insurance. The purpose of the review is to ensure that taxpayer funds paid through the rebate subsidise only natural therapies that are underpinned by a credible evidence base.

Dr Harvey notes that "this isn't the first time homeopathy has been debunked, but the verdict of Australia's peak health research body has implications for discredited academic degrees and health insurance subsidies".
