Monash Institute of Medical Engineering affinity meeting now open for RSVPs

The Monash Institute of Medical Engineering (MIME) has recently been established as a joint initiative by the Faculties of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences, and Engineering and Information Technology.

MIME would like to invite interested medical staff at the Alfred Hospital and researchers at AMREP and the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, to the affinity meeting at AMREP Ground Floor Lecture Theatre on the 29th of August at 1:30-4:30pm.
Successful collaborations between AMREP and engineering at Monash already include the development of a bionic vision device (Gennaris), rib fixation device, cardiac perfusion device, advanced micro-CT imaging of heart and lung function, as well as new delivery systems for vaccines and therapeutics. MIME looks to support the many other potential synergies between medical and public health researchers, with engineers and information technology experts, initially by identifying new and existing common interests and capabilities. The goal is to foster the development of new medical devices, diagnostics, imaging techniques, electronic technologies and new ways of displaying analysing research data.
