Broken doctor–patient relationships: why won't they listen?

SPHPM's Prof John Zalcberg has co authored an article published in the Medical Journal of Australia about the importance of doctor - patient relationships. The article notes that a good relationship between a doctor and their patient is vital for high quality patient care, though it is sometimes not the case.

  1. I think that it's important that you have to be completely honest with your doctor when you're talking to them. Their job is to help you the best they can, but they can't do that if they don't have the whole picture. My brother lied to our doctor and it really caused some problems. Because of that, he had to stay in the hospital and extra month to get better. It taught me to be honest with any doctor.
