Understanding causes of death in nursing homes to improve end of life care

DEPM's Joseph E. Ibrahim has published an article which focuses on understanding how people die in nursing homes. The study notes that by 2050, the proportion of older people aged 80 and older in developed countries is expected to reach 10% and with this, the demand for nursing homes will grow.

According to the paper, understanding how people die in nursing homes strengthens health and well-being policies and practices to reduce harm, which should improve end-of-life care for older people and restore family and community confidence in nursing homes.
