Congratulations to Dr Basia Diug for being awarded the CAPHIA 2014 Award
for Excellence and Innovation in Public Health Teaching.
(CAPHIA) at its annual Forum in Perth.
They were presented by Prof Catherine Bennett, CAPHIA President, and Prof Mike Daube
AO, Curtin University. Prof Bennett said “the quality of the applications was outstanding”. Prof Daube commented that “public health in Australia and globally will benefit from
the achievements of these Australian researchers and educators.”
Dr Basia Diug was unanimously recommended by
the selection panel for the Excellence and Innovation in Public Health Teaching
award. For her leadership in teaching across several campuses to 900 students, including epidemiology,
biostatistics, research methods, anatomy and physiology.

In addition, Dr Diug presented her work called “Evaluating
the use of social media to increase engagement in public health unit’ which was
very well received.
