Prof Jane Fisher and Kate Young attend Hat Day to support mental health awareness in Aus

Prof Jane Fisher and PhD candidate, Kate Young, from the Jean Hailes Research Unit recently attended the Carlton Rotary Club's Hat Day fundraiser lunch.

Hat Day is Australian Rotary Health’s community and action awareness day aimed at raising funds for mental health research and preventing Australians from keeping mental health issues ‘under their hats’. Hat Day 2014 is also to be the springboard to launch a new national initiative focused on the prevention of mental health disorders.

100% of the money raised for Hat Day goes to research into helping those affected by depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and many other illnesses. The day is one of the largest non-government funders of mental illness research in Australia.

Jane and Kate are pictured above with Betty Kitchener who developed the Mental Health First Aid workshop, a very popular course held at Monash.
