School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine welcomes Diogenes Ferreira

Welcome to Diogenes Ferreira who is joining the Clinical Epidemiology Department.  Diogenes is an Allergist and Clinical Immunologist from Brazil, having previously worked in the field of Asthma and COPD research.

Recently, Diogenes published a study which found that fatal asthma is associated with the increased presence of eosinophils in the lymph nodes and large airways of patients, which express HLA-DR and costimulatory molecules. These findings support the concept that eosinophils might act as antigen-presenting cells in patients with fatal asthma.
