Prof Christina Mitchell, Prof John McNeil, Alan Lily and Prof Ian Davis
Last week the Head of School, Professor John McNeil; Professor Christina Mitchell, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences; and Professor Ian Davis, Head of Eastern Health Clinical School, met with Alan Lilly, CEO of Eastern Health, to discuss the work and scope of SPHPM and the effectiveness of research taking place within a hospital setting.

Mr Lilly was given a tour of the School’s teaching and research facilities at the Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct (AMREP) and met with researchers and staff.

Professor McNeil said the meeting was an important one that will pave the way for increased collaboration with Eastern Health and build on existing links.

“The School’s strong relationship with The Alfred Hospital is an exemplar for how researchers and hospitals can work together to reach great outcomes for patients and to achieve important research findings,” he said.

Both Monash University and SPHPM have a concentrated focus on innovative teaching methods and approaches. Through its collaboration with The Alfred and other Monash linked hospitals, SPHPM positions itself at the forefront of public health issues and events, benefiting students, researchers, clinicians and patients alike.
