SPHPM attends the 63rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand

Monash University’s Centre of Cardiovascular Research and Education in Therapeutics (CCRET) joined the representation from SPHPM at the 63rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, held in Melbourne on 13-16 August. CCRET currently runs a number of large clinical registries.

CCRET’s Dr Lavinia Tran (pictured) presented on the experience of nesting a randomised trial within a clinical registry and also presented results from the linkage between the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons (ANZSCTS) Database to the National Death Index.

PhD student Susie Cartledge is to be congratulated for winning the Nursing Prize Presentation at the event for her work on CPR training in cardiac rehabilitation programs.

Associate Professor Jeff Lefkovits and Dr Diem Dinh from CCRET presented on work arising from the Victorian Cardiac Outcomes Registry (VCOR).

Dr Andrew Kompa presented on a novel angiotensin receptor inhibitor in an experimental model of myocardial infarction.

Other CCRET presenters included Associate Professor Bing Wang, Associate Professor Andrea Driscoll, Dr Alice Owen and Ms Louise Shiel as well as PhD students Mr Berhe Sahle, Dr Ingrid Hopper and Ms Anne Russell.
