Become a Cochrane citizen scientist

The Project Transform team, led by staff at the Cochrane Australia, are excited to announce the launch of Cochrane Crowd. This new online platform will enable anyone to get involved with Cochrane and help identify the evidence we need to make informed healthcare decisions.

With more and more health research being published every day, the growing challenge has become identifying the research needed to produce high-quality up-to-date health evidence, and this is where Cochrane citizen scientists can help.

With the help of volunteer power and crowdsourcing algorithms, volunteers can screen health research citations and decide whether they should be included in Cochrane clinical trials database.

A crowdsourcing algorithm then determines how many volunteers need to agree that a citation should be included in the database. If volunteers can’t agree on whether to include a citation or not, Cochrane team of experts can review that citation.

As part of the Cochrane Crowd platform, they are also developing Cochrane ClassMate, an innovative new online tool. Trainers and educators will be able to use Cochrane ClassMate to create exciting activities for learning about evidence synthesis. You can read more about it here. If you would like to be part of the first user testing group for Cochrane ClassMate, please get in touch at classmate@cochrane.org.

Alternatively, take a look at Cochrane Crowd and see if you can you find a randomised control trial (RCT) today!
