MonCOEH embarks on new partnership with Thailand’s Centre of Occupational and Environmental Medicine

The Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health (MonCOEH) at SPHPM has partnered with the Centre of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. The collaboration establishes a formal partnership between the occupational health centres that will guide future occupational and environmental research and training.

Professor Malcolm Sim, an occupational physician and epidemiologist and Director of MonCOEH, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Centre of Occupational and Environmental Medicine on September 26 in Melbourne, as did Head of SPHPM Professor John McNeil, Dr Adul Bandhukul and Dr Uthai Tanslaruk (Director of the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Centre and Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital respectively).

The Centre of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital falls under the direction of Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health and leads the field in setting standards of practice of occupational and environmental medicine in Thailand.

The MOU seeks to establish and facilitate education, training and research programs between the two centres which aim to enhance the skills of occupational physicians and nurses through specialised training in occupational medicine and research skills which may include exchanges and adjunct appointments.
